Funeral Arrangements in Jakarta?
Death is a part of life that none of us can avoid, whether it comes to children, adults, or the elderly. When a member of the family passes away, the family naturally wants to send their loved one to God with a fitting final resting place. In fact, there are several ways to honor this, one of which is cremation, where the ashes can be kept by the family or scattered at sea, and burial. However, most Indonesians prefer burial to cremation. So it is no surprise that cemetery land in various regions, including Jakarta, keeps growing. For people living in Jakarta, especially newcomers, sometimes families take the body back to their hometown because they do not understand how to arrange everything, especially since the cost of funeral arrangements in Jakarta is considered expensive. In the past, arranging a grave was quite difficult, but today it has become easier, and prices can be adjusted to suit our economic conditions. Pengurusan pemakaman di Jakarta? So, how exactly do you arrange a funeral in Jakarta? Before going through the steps, it is advisable to prepare several documents required to create a new grave. Below are some documents you need to prepare and submit to the party handling the arrangements.

Documents you need to prepare and submit to the handling party

1. Application letter

This letter contains a statement that all the documents and data filled in are true and valid. Do not forget to sign it as the applicant (usually a family member of the deceased) and affix a stamp duty. You must take full responsibility for the documents and data you provide.

2. Applicant's identity

If you are an Indonesian citizen, provide your KTP (Resident Identity Card) and Family Card, both photocopied. It is advisable to make 10 photocopies in case more are needed. For foreigners, you must provide a Limited Stay Permit Card or KITAS, along with a visa or passport. Do not forget to photocopy these as well!

3. Identity of the deceased

For the identity of the deceased, the same applies as for the applicant: the KTP and Family Card, photocopied.

4. Certificates

You must obtain several certificates, namely a death certificate from the hospital or community health center (puskesmas) and a death report from the sub-district office (kelurahan). You must also photocopy all of them.

5. Cemetery referral letter

This letter can be obtained once all the documents have been submitted to every party handling the grave. Once you have it, you can choose the grave you want or the one designated by the local government. Pengurusan pemakaman di Jakarta? Once you understand the documents you need to prepare, here are the steps for arranging a funeral in Jakarta that you should follow:

1. The applicant requests the body examination certificate and death report

First, you need the body examination certificate, which you can request from your local RT and RW. Then, submit this document to the nearest community health center or hospital, or to whoever is handling the body. The health center or hospital will then issue a death certificate, which you must give to your sub-district office (kelurahan) to obtain the death report.

2. Booking the grave

Once all the documents are complete, you can book a grave at the public cemetery (TPU) you prefer or the one recommended by the sub-district office. If available, you may choose the plot yourself. Naturally, cemetery plot prices vary depending on the block or location.

3. Handling administration

Once you have chosen the plot, you need to handle the administration. You are required to pay the cemetery land rental levy at the regional treasury office near the cemetery. They will usually offer an ambulance to transport the body. If you need it, you will also need to pay for the body transport. Once the administration is complete, you will receive a Cemetery Land Use Permit, or IPTM, which is valid for 3 years. When it expires, you must extend it by paying the levy set by the authorities. Even though the process has been simplified, quite a few Jakarta residents still take their loved ones back to their hometowns. One of the considerations for many is the cost of funeral arrangements. Often we find that arranging a grave requires a lot of money, from transporting the body to the coffin itself. If you think coffins are cheap, that is a mistake. Why? Because a single coffin can cost you millions, even tens of millions, of rupiah. You may be able to find a coffin for a few million, but it still depends on the materials and quality you choose. As for the price of burial land in Indonesia, it is now affordable and no longer as expensive as before. Moreover, prices are now set by the government, so there are no longer illegal fees that could add to the cost of a funeral. In fact, there is a solution to keep costs from piling up: using funeral protection. Several companies in Indonesia now offer this service so that everyone, especially those from lower to middle-income groups, can give their family a dignified burial. This service covers most of the essential expenses, such as the burial plot, transportation, and the coffin. Given how expensive body transport and coffins can be, it is better to buy this guarantee. For only tens to hundreds of thousands of rupiah a month, you can enjoy many beneficial facilities. Even if you understand how to arrange a grave but are still worried about the costs, it is worth using Indonesia's first funeral protection, such as Kamboja.co.id.
