An ambulance is an important form of transportation that grieving families often need to take the deceased to the place of rest. You can rent a funeral ambulance by contacting the hospital or a trusted ambulance rental provider.
The problem is that rental costs can often be a barrier. But don't worry, there is now a funeral ambulance service that is free in Jakarta and that you can use. How do you rent one? Let's take a look!
Types of Ambulances Commonly Used
Before getting to rental rates, it's worth knowing the difference between a patient ambulance and a funeral ambulance so you don't choose the wrong one.
Ambulances are medical transport vehicles usually used to help handle emergencies. For example, when a patient suffers a sudden heart attack, is in an accident, needs first aid, or other situations.
1. Patient Ambulance
As the name suggests, patient ambulances are used to transport patients who need medical care. These ambulances are equipped with medical equipment ranging from simple to very complete. Patient ambulances can be divided into three categories:
- Basic ambulance, equipped with basic medical equipment to help patients receive first aid. The patient's condition in this type of ambulance is relatively stable, and the distance to healthcare facilities is fairly short.
- Transport ambulance, used to move patients from one hospital to another nearby hospital. Its medical equipment is more complete than the previous type.
- Advanced ambulance, an ambulance fitted with very complete equipment, used to transport critical emergency patients to hospitals that are farther away.
2. Funeral Ambulance
Unlike patient ambulances, funeral vehicles are not equipped with special medical equipment because the passenger is someone who has passed away. Inside there is only space to place the body and seats for accompanying family members.
Another difference lies in the interior space. Funeral vehicles have space smaller than patient ambulances, because patient ambulances need more room to carry medical equipment. So make sure you don't choose the wrong one when renting an ambulance.

How Do You Rent a Free Funeral Ambulance?
Funeral ambulance rental rates can indeed be quite expensive, which often becomes a problem for people who need one but have limited means.
For this reason, the Jakarta government has partnered with several hospitals to offer relief by providing ambulance facilities for residents.
Beyond that, the DKI Jakarta government also provides funeral arrangement services free of charge, with no costs at all. So, how do you place an order?
The first thing you need to do is prepare documents such as:

5. Death Certificate (Surat Keterangan Kematian)
You can obtain this letter from the hospital once the patient has been officially pronounced dead. It helps speed up the release of the body so that the funeral and burial can take place promptly.
6. BPJS Card
If you have a Social Security Administering Body (BPJS) card, you may include it with your other documents so that your request for free hearse service can be approved more quickly.
